A magnificent castle hidden in the stunning Forest of Dean, Clearwell Castle provides the fairytale location perfect for your dream wedding. This family-run venue offers beautiful reception rooms, an elegant aisle and spacious accommodation. Once the recording rooms of Led Zeppelin and Queen, Clearwell Castle’s rich history, striking interiors and characterful architecture make this the perfect place for your wedding.
Set in 20 acres of grounds complete with a cocktail terrace and croquet lawn, Clearwell Castle is a unique venue in a romantic forest setting. Our donkeys will welcome you by the driveway upon arrival and groundsmen ensure our lawns are perfectly striped. The Bandstand makes for fabulous photo opportunities, the lake is a hidden gem and the 'lime walk' is an enjoyable stroll - perfect for a moment by yourselves.
Step inside the house and be greeted by roaring log fires, grand reception rooms and two well-stocked bars. The Ballroom at Clearwell Castle boasts a golden 75-foot long aisle and at the end of the aisle is a raised dais, which creates a stage for the couple to sign the register upon. The leaded lancet windows create a church-like feel to the room and add to the ceremonial feel of the moment.
Food is also an important part of your day and this is why we choose to employ our very own team of in-house chefs. Choose from an array of gastronomic dishes for every taste or, for a personal touch, create your own menu with your Personal Wedding Manager, who will guide you through every aspect of your day.
In addition to this, our dedicated Bar & Beverages team are on hand to help you select suitable drinks to serve throughout your day. Clearwell Castle has two bars – a dedicated Cocktail and Champagne Bar and the vaulted Cellar Bar in the disco area. The modern Cellar Bar has been designed with your evening reception in mind and offers a contemporary setting to dance the night away in style.
On-site guest accommodation is vital and allows everyone to re-group over breakfast the following morning and reminisce about the previous day's highlights. Clearwell Castle can provide accommodation for up to 79 guests and all rooms are en suite. There are 15 luxurious castle bedrooms, three estate cottages and 24 newly refurbished guest rooms just a short stroll away at The Wyndham.
Clearwell Castle has won numerous awards since its beginnings in 1998 which are testament to all the hard work that our team put in to each and every wedding we host. Most recently, Clearwell Castle was voted ‘Best UK Wedding Venue’ in the British Wedding Awards 2018.
