High House is a stunning wedding venue set in six acres of landscaped gardens and rolling meadow in the Essex countryside. Offering a luxurious yet quaint setting, High House is exclusively yours for your perfect wedding day.

Our brides have use of our luxurious dressing room on the morning of their wedding. Situated adjacent to the main house overlooking the swimming pool, the orangery is luxuriously furnished with comfortable sofas, dressing tables and of course a changing room and generous en-suite.

Our couples have the option of having their ceremony in either the rustic Essex barn, or outside in the grounds under our beautiful thatched gazebo.

Our stable courtyard is at your service for reception drinks. Overlooking the pond and stunning bridge it offers the perfect setting for guests to mingle and assemble for photographs.

Over six acres of grounds in total are available for guests to wander through, admire the pretty English country gardens, orchard and enjoy lawn games.

Our very own vineyard, ‘The Althorne Estate’, was planted in early 2017 and is a beautiful addition to High House. We will be making our very own English Sparkling Wine in the years to come with our first harvest taking place in 2019. The vineyard makes for a wonderful photo location for our couples.

When the time comes for guests to be seated, our elegant marquee offers the perfect setting. With views to the lake (spectacular at sunset!) which can be viewed from our decking, the highly impressive space will wow your guests. The wedding marquee can be prepared to accommodate anything from an all-day informal barbecue to a genteel wedding breakfast. The decision is yours.

As dusk falls the marquee comes to life for your evening celebrations. Benefitting from a dance floor reveal (your party is hidden away until the evening), twinkling star-cloth lining, stage, and black and white dance floor, you can be sure of an amazing party atmosphere.

One of the best kept secrets of High House, your secluded retreat, the 'Brides Cottage' is tucked away within its own secret garden. Couples enter the secret garden via an enchanting solid oak door and are greeted by the beautiful cottage standing proudly amongst gravel gardens and pretty cottage flowers. Offering a sumptuous bedroom with freestanding bath and en-suite, cozy lounge and kitchen, this is the perfect place for escape and privacy on your wedding night.

Offering the same luxurious finish and amenities as our bridal cottage, the detached guest lodge offers an additional two en-suite bedrooms. Ideal for your immediate bridal party.
