Ardington House is a magnificent Georgian country house, dating back to 1720. Located on the edge of Ardington village in Oxfordshire, the private estate has beautiful gardens, perfectly manicured lawns and its own lake, making it an idyllic setting for your wedding day. We are situated in the deep countryside of the North Wessex Downs in an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet only 75 minutes from London.

Ardington House is an exclusive-use venue, allowing you to take over the whole of this beautiful private setting and make it feel like home to you and your wedding guests. The house and formal gardens are an ideal setting for welcome drinks, canapés, garden games and photographs, while our riverside garden marquee, set in parkland and with uninterrupted views up to the downs, makes the perfect setting for your wedding breakfast and party. Although it has all the grandeur and history that you would expect from a stately home, Ardington House also manages to feel cosy, warm and welcoming.

We are licensed for wedding ceremonies, which can take place in the house itself or outside on the beautiful Temple Island. This unique island setting is situated in the middle of a river which winds its way through our parkland. Against the backdrop of the house and a riverbank lined with weeping willows, the Island Temple makes a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony. For indoor civil ceremonies, the Imperial Hall provides a grand and yet intimate setting, complete with a double staircase, large Georgian windows and glass chandelier.

The Imperial Hall and South Lawn are the perfect spots for reception drinks and our elegant riverside marquee is ideal for your wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. It has a dining area which can accommodate up to 200 guests and is beautifully finished with chiffon draping, a chequered dance floor and a fairy light ceiling helping to create the perfect celebratory atmosphere with panoramic views facing onto the Georgian House, lake and gardens.

Our preferred caterer is a locally based firm who work seamlessly with our own team and have catered for many of our events over the years, receiving many plaudits from our clients along the way. The catering team are always happy to discuss bespoke and speciality menus and can be totally flexible if you wish to introduce dishes and drinks which are not included on the menus.

The house has 12 bedrooms, mainly doubles with some twins, sleeping up to 25 guests. In the extensive gardens and parkland of Ardington House we have an outdoor swimming pool which is heated in the summer months and a tennis court.

Our event manager will be on hand to offer help and advice with the planning and to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

Ardington House has excellent transport links being only 15 minutes from Didcot Parkway train station, 20 minutes from Oxford, 75 minutes from central London and 45 minutes from Heathrow airport.
