Being the Best Bridesmaid

9th May 2023

The big day of one of your closest friends is approaching, and you have been given the ultimate honour of being a bridesmaid. A full-time job that is fun, memorable - and downright stressful!

At Amazing Space Weddings, we believe that if you fail to prepare you prepare to fail, so we are here with some top tips and tricks to help you be the best bridesmaid possible!

1. Be a good listener

Wedding planning is stressful to everyone involved, but no-one more so than the bride or groom. Make sure you are there to listen to them vent and moan about the most trivial of things (even if they are worried about the colour of their napkins!) to ensure they don’t get overwhelmed.

2. Scout out the Wedding Venue

Sometimes, things just go wrong on a wedding day. If you can build a relationship with the venue staff where the ceremony and reception are held and know the ins and outs of the location, problems are far easier to solve on the day with a supportive team behind you!

3. Don’t be fussy about dresses

A difficult one at times - especially when the bride picks up something straight out of Rocky Horror for her bridesmaids to wear! It’s fine to have an opinion and have a favourite option, but remember to be diplomatic about the bride's wants and needs.

4. Take on Tasks

It’s easy to tell someone that you’ll help them whenever they need, but if you want to be the best of the best, offer to take on specific tasks to help the stressed out bride and groom - finding DJs, searching for the perfect bouquet… make yourself available.

5. Keep Calm and Carry On

A wedding day is a hectic and overwhelming envrioment for anyone, so ensure you are staying as relaxed as you can to keep the nerves of bride and groom at bay.

6. Eyes on the Prize

Watch the bride and grooms like hawks on the big day - and not because one of them could run off! It’s best to watch out for any wardrobe malfunctions or makeup disasters, especially when weddings can be quite the tearjerker!

7. Bathroom Duty

Potentially the most important thing to remember when you accept the role of bridesmaid - you’re about the be on bathroom duty all day and night! A wedding dress is not the easiest thing to manoeuvre, and so a bride needs a good friend on standby to lend a helping hand!

8. Have fun - and dance!

More than anything, a bride and groom want their happy day to be a celebration for everyone involved. Half the event planning is about entertaining the guests - and you’re one of them! Make sure you dedicate some time to enjoying yourself and join the happy couple on the dance floor to get the party really started.
