Golden Cross, East Sussex

Pekes is an early Tudor tile-hung manor house (c.1470), garden and park with a self-contained Edwardian wing and 4 separate houses located within the grounds. The house exudes characterful charm, offers delightful quirky features throughout and is surrounded by lawns and charming gardens. The Estate sits peacefully in open countryside with absolutely stunning views of the Sussex landscape.
Pekes is licensed as a venue for the solemnisation of civil marriages and the formation of civil partnerships. You can have your legal marriage ceremony in our atmospheric beamed Tudor dining room which has space for up to 70 guests or you have the option to exchange your vows outside if you have up to 200 guests. Stay, marry and celebrate in one lovely private place – so romantic!
Our very large ‘Ducks’ lawn at the back of the Manor House takes marquees for up to 180 people, while there are plenty of other lawned areas. In addition, 'The Space' offers a large open area to do what you like in.
We offer you the whole of Pekes as you see it, to be yours exclusively to create your own wedding and celebration; we impose no suppliers, there are no extras. We can help you choose experienced and trusted local suppliers of everything you’ll need if you would like us to do so.
Our self-catering accommodation is in our Manor House and the five other houses which are all close by. You can stay for a minimum of 2 nights, (3 nights is the most popular option) and if you want to stay longer – no problem.
In total, Pekes can sleep up to 64 of your family and friends between the 6 individual properties all of which vary hugely in size and features but all are located on The Estate. We are very family friendly and encourage people to bring their dogs.
