Kinkell Byre was built in the 1700s as a winter home for the cattle of Kinkell Farm. And now, more than just a wedding venue, we offer you exclusive hire of a converted barn which is full of character and rustic charm with plenty of room inside and out, all situated in an amazing setting. Kinkell Byre, stunningly located on the coast just outside St Andrews, allows you to create your perfect event.

Kinkell Byre gives you the chance to create your own event with as much freedom as possible. The venue is a blank canvas retaining many original features. Our experienced team will give you as much or as little help and advice as you want. This allows you to really put your personal touch on your truly unique event.

We rent you exclusive-use of the space for the day of your wedding and you and your suppliers have access on the day before to set up and decorate exactly as you wish. This multi-functional & adaptable venue can seat 450 or more with an adjoining sea-view marquee. Exclusive-use of our off-road track, grounds and venue is available to all clients and our professional, experienced team are always willing to go the extra mile to create a unique Scottish experience for your guests.

Your day flows throughout separate areas of the venue. Within the Byre there are separate spaces which you can use for the different parts of your wedding. This allows the activities of the day to flow through the building with little or no movement of furniture. There are also outside areas at the front of the building with spectacular sea views and a South facing garden to the rear.
We are very lucky in Scotland where getting married does not just mean a traditional church ceremony or registrar office. Scotland is one of the only places in the world that allows you to get married anywhere, your way; all that you need is a registered body and a marriage schedule.

You can choose whoever you want as suppliers. We feel that you shouldn’t have to sacrifice your dream caterer to get your dream venue – so we don’t tell you who to use and we do not charge corkage on any wine or fizz that you supply yourselves. The only people that we ask you to use are our lighting and bar suppliers, as they have bespoke equipment tailored to our venue.

We are next door to and work closely with the award winning 5* Fairmont St Andrews Resort, with 211-bedrooms, two golf courses, a spa and a fine dining banqueting team who can cater for your event here at Kinkell Byre if you so wish.
