About

Cornwell Manor is probably one of the most romantic places to get married in Southern England and the bliss is that you can have Cornwell exclusively to yourself, to create the day or weekend that is unique to you. Cornwell Manor and the surrounding privately owned hamlet and 2,000 acre estate, located near Chipping Norton on the Oxfordshire-Gloucestershire borders, is one of the most beautiful areas of the Cotswolds. It is within easy reach of Heathrow, London and Oxford.

Cornwell Manor is available for exclusive hire for a minimum of 3 days over a weekend, or 2 days mid-week. The Ballroom is available for daily hire for civil ceremonies and receptions together with the walled garden. Rent the house for a long weekend, have your rehearsal dinner in the Ballroom, get married the next day in the church and dance the night away on the lawn. The house sleeps up to 24 people in 12 bedrooms.

VENUE DETAILS:
Cornwell Parish Church is in a wonderfully rural spot, overlooking the field to the lakes with the house still in view. The small Norman church is a short walk from the Manor house along an avenue of lime trees. The Church can accommodate 80-100 people and has such a special atmosphere when it is filled with guests and flowers. It is necessary to have a connection with the Parish to get married here or to attend normal church services regularly within the Parish (Cornwell, Chastleton, Salford, Little Compton, or Little Rollright) for a period of at least 6 months before your wedding. It may be possible, with permission, to have a religious blessing in the Church following a legal ceremony elsewhere or in the Ballroom.

The Ballroom is a spectacular room accommodating up to 100 people for a civil wedding ceremony, or up to 72 for a seated dinner. Following an extensive refurbishment, the Ballroom is now available to hire for civil wedding ceremonies and or receptions. Designed by Clough Williams-Ellis in the late 1930's, the Ballroom is a unique and elegant addition to Cornwell Manor, boasting an adjoining private walled garden, capable of taking a marquee to seat a further 120-140 people. Seating up to 100 for a ceremony, or 72 for a dinner, it is a beautiful classical space with a minstrels gallery, perfect for a string trio or a DJ! The walls are adorned with two huge tapestries, from "The Triumph of the Gods", one, over six metres long, "The Triumph of Minerva" and the other "the Procession of Bacchus". Above the carved oak fireplace is a vast bespoke mirror, of verre eglomisé, complementing the room with a truly romantic feel.

Following a civil ceremony in the Ballroom, you can have a blessing conducted by a wedding celebrant anywhere in the grounds - open air by the lake, by the Italian water feature, under the giant Beech tree, at the poolside, in the secret garden - the choice is yours.

MARQUEE: The Croquet Lawn makes the perfect pitch for a fabulous marquee for up to 300 people. With steps leading down from the manor, through the topiary to the fountain and Italianate water garden, your marquee will have a splendid setting overlooking the lakes. We are happy to recommend our preferred suppliers for anything from traditional canvas pole tents to a grand pavilion, Sperry or stretched tents with bespoke linings.

For smaller weddings, the walled garden next to the ballroom offers a perfect sheltered spot for a stretch tent or boutique tent for up to 120 people.

Testimonials

"Cornwell Manor provided so much more than the most beautiful setting for the perfect wedding. It became our home for the weekend and we loved the informality and the fun that we all had while we were there. Nothing could have been too much trouble for Charlotte and the Cornwell team and 'Can Do' was always the mantra. Dream location, dream team, dream wedding."
