Came is an enchanting Palladian Country House and private estate built in 1754 in the heart of Thomas Hardy’s Dorset, ten minutes from the Jurassic Coast. Came loves a party and was built to entertain. With its roaring fires, twinkling chandeliers and Rococo plasterwork, the House has been a home to friendship, love and laughter for countless guests over the centuries.

All of the formal rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies, the largest being the unique domed Conservatory, for up to 120 guests which was designed by the Architect Charles Fowler whose other impressive designs include Covent Garden Market and Syon House no less. There are several outdoor options too, within the gardens and the woods or at the front of the House beneath the Entrance Vestibule. The 15th Century Chapel, just a short stroll away within our grounds, is available for blessings and there is a plethora of local churches for religious ceremonies.

One of the great benefits at Came House is that you are able to provide your own drinks for the drinks reception after your ceremony and during the wedding breakfast (wine and toast drinks) with absolutely no corkage charges. For the evening reception, a full evening bar service (fully licensed) is provided by Came House. This is with glass service, fully staffed and a wide selection of drinks. This can be operated as a cash bar or an open bar - you choose. At Came House, we work with six selected, trusted caterers who are well established in the area and know the House well.

Your guests will be invited to take their seats for your wedding breakfast with an enchanting stroll through the Italian Garden, leading to Came’s beautiful marquee situated within the ‘Secret Garden’. Your traditional marquee, supported by three elegant timber poles, measures 12m x 24m, plenty spacious enough to comfortably seat up to 180 guests for dining. It includes a discreet catering tent (6m x 9m) and a walk-in chiller to keep drinks perfectly chilled.

The marquee boasts a high-peaked roof, white festoon lighting with dimmers, and a fully equipped sound system for background music and speeches. Inside, you’ll find an oak dance floor designed for up to 200 guests and a large stage ready to accommodate a 10-piece show band! Panoramic windows on three sides can be opened to embrace the warm summer breezes, while a bespoke bar is perfectly suited for evening bar service. For added luxury, beautifully designed high-end marquee restrooms are provided to ensure your guests’ comfort.

When the Wedding Breakfast is over, retire to the bar in the Morning Room; dance the night away in the glass domed Conservatory and fall into bed in the stunning bridal suite. Family and friends can stay in the main house and The Garden House just next door from Friday to Sunday and if you would like to extend your time at Came we would be delighted to accommodate you.

Came House is blessed with an extensive estate of surrounding grounds, making it ideal for those who want to offer their guests a unique glamping experience perhaps with bell tents, yurts or numerous other kinds of boutique tented accommodation. Came is a hugely versatile venue and offers you a great deal of flexibility to enjoy your wedding weekend just as you wish.
