Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and launched in 1843, the beautifully restored ship lies in the heart of Bristol’s harbourside and offers some of the most spectacular views in the region.

At almost 30 metres in length, with mirrors and elegant wooden flooring, the Promenade Deck makes for an impressive aisle. Wedding couples exchange
vows below the circular skylight, on this sunlit promenade deck surrounded by family and friends. Natural light floods into this atmospheric and romantic space.

After your beautiful ceremony, you and your guests can raise a toast surrounded by the region’s most striking vistas on the Weather Deck. You may even catch one of Bristol’s famous balloons flying above you. Then enjoy fine wines and delicious food prepared by some of the top chefs in Bristol in the opulent First Class Dining Saloon which offers the finest setting for your reception. Here guests will be enchanted by the best in early Victorian design, with marble-styled pillars, Rococo mirrors and candle lanterns.


Finally, go ahead and party the night away. Below deck is the Hayward Saloon, a versatile space with a dance floor and bar area available to be dressed your way.

During your wedding celebrations, the ship will be available for you and your guests to exclusively enjoy, allowing you to capture breathtaking photographs of your day.

Recently launched in September 2019, Riggers’ Yard at Brunel’s SS Great Britain now offers a new, outdoor rustic style wedding location right by the water’s edge. With stunning views across Bristol’s historic harbour, couples can exchange vows outside under floral arches and festoon lighting, while guests take in the spectacular scenery, unmatched by any other venue in the city. Perfect for smaller occasions for 50 or less and available all year round during school holidays and weekends; this space really is unique. The wedding couple can complement the day by taking their guests on a boat cruise around the harbour before returning for dinner and an evening celebration aboard the ship, in the opulent First Class Dining Saloon. Introductory prices for a 3 hour hire that includes a glass of Pimms for all guests, custom draping, benches and festoon lighting starts from £1000 + VAT.
