In a beautiful, nature-filled corner of North Essex, beside a lake and surrounded by meadows and woodland on a small family farm, the Barn Field and its surroundings offer a unique, special place for your celebration or other event. We are offering a small number of weddings each year during the summer (May to September), at weekends (Fridays or Saturdays only). There will be a maximum of one wedding or event each week. We aim to keep our business as sustainable as possible, and take a strong interest in the environment, wildlife and nature on the farm.

The Grounds:
Following a track through the meadows and down a tree lined avenue, you reach the area known as ‘Mount Nebo’ situated in the Barn Field. Here almost 15 acres of the farm are available for your exclusive use. The land is at a good distance from any houses, and each space offers amazing opportunities for you to be creative about how you use it. The spaces are:
- the beautiful lake and land surrounding it
- the willow field, with majestic rows of silvery willow trees and butterfly filled grassland
- the woodland, with rows of mature trees
- the Barn Field, with stunning views

The lake has space beside it for a tipi or marquee for up to 120 people, and also for a ceremony or smaller marquee/tipi.

There is ample space for parking, and good (hard) access to the site.

The Farm:
The farm, which has been in the family for over 60 years, is run along regenerative farming principles with a small herd of rare breed cows and a small flock of rare breed sheep.

The Accommodation:
There is self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people available at the farmhouse, or space for glamping tipis or camping available in the fields.

Suppliers:
We are a ‘dry hire’ venue, meaning that we provide the blank canvas and you (or your planner) would organise the suppliers for your event or party. We have a list of suppliers that we are happy to recommend to you, and are very happy to guide you through the process if that would be helpful.

Location:
On the edge of the village of Sible Hedingham, the farm is 15 minutes north of Braintree with good transport links also to Colchester (40 minutes) and Sudbury (20 minutes). Trains to Braintree run from Liverpool Street (journey time around 60 minutes).
