Picking The Perfect Wedding Season
6th January 2022

Happy 2022! At Amazing Space Weddings, we’ve never heard of January blues - a New Year equals more weddings to plan and celebrate!
One of the first things every couple planning for a wedding must do is choose their wedding date. At first, this seems like a simple task. But, as soon as you sit down to look over the calendar, the options become overwhelming. 365 days in a year… and which one would be perfect for you?
We’re here to help when it comes to choosing the perfect season for your event. Are you hoping for a Winter Wonderland? A bright Summer Day? Maybe a picturesque Autumnal day or peaceful Spring Event? Let's consider the pros/cons…
Winter Weddings
When we imagine the ideal wintery day for the perfect wedding, we imagine a snowy landscape, with frost covered grass and cosy fires burning away.
The reality, at least for the UK, can be a lot more dreary, with rain and freezing grey. If you’re thinking of picking an older, castle style venue for a winter wedding, you might spend more time shivering than celebrating.
It isn’t all doom and gloom of course - getting married between January - March will help you cut down costs on a rental fee with an off season date. Plus, there is no better way to start the year off than hosting the best day of your life, surrounded by family and friends.
Winter has an undeniably cosy ambiance, and if you don’t care about the chances of bad weather, then dimmed lights, flickering candles and roaring fires will no doubt make your day an intimate and memorable affair! A cosy hotel or a restaurant wedding venue would be the perfect places to celebrate.
Spring
Spring is a pretty popular month when it comes to weddings. With a bunch of bank holidays to choose from for a longer celebration, Spring offers blooming flowers, (hopefully) sunny skies and an optimistic feeling.
If you’re dreaming of a castle or outdoor wedding venue, perhaps in a park or forest, Spring is the ideal. Winter will freeze your guests and Summer risks the chance of stifling heat. Spring offers the perfect medium, a romantic atmosphere to say ‘I do’.
Another major pro that's easy to overlook when choosing your date - in Springtime, the most beautiful flowers are in season. Daffodils, lilacs, tulips, hyacinths… you name it, Spring probably has it. Don’t forget your bouquet!
The popularity of the Spring Wedding season does mean costs will be on the up compared to a Winter Wedding, so make sure you evaluate what works best for you.
Summer
An undeniably top choice for many when it comes to wedding planning. Summer is the safest month to choose when it comes to the weather, and a major pro is that the longer days mean a lot more flexibility when it comes to timing. More daylight hours means more time to enjoy your special day, making use of your photographer for as long as you can.
Do you picture yourself getting married at sunset, surrounded by fairylights and candles outdoors but not absolutely freezing? Summer is the one for you. Weddings at glamorous estates with perfectly manicured gardens or marquee venues work best in this season.

Another major advantage: with school holidays, Summer also offers more flexibility for your guests with kids that want to come and celebrate your day with you. Summer is perfect for big ceremonies and parties for all to enjoy.
Downsides to note is the potential for overheating (which no one wants in a big white dress or a thick tux), and a whole lot more bugs and flies buzzing round. Being the absolute peak season, competition for dates is high and prices skyrocket, especially after two years of cancellations thanks to the pandemic. If you’re wanting to tie the knot ASAP, summer might not work too well for you.
Autumn
Autumn is too often overlooked when it comes to wedding planning. People tend to picture the downsides that Winter offers, (with increasingly unpredictable weather without the chance of snowy wonderland), rather than the positives.
Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons to choose for your wedding, with the changing leaves a naturally gorgeous backdrop to the big day. With bonfires, crisp air and twinkling fairlights, Autumn could hold the perfect date for you.
Ask any photographer, and they’ll agree - Autumn is brilliant for some picture perfect lighting. With amazing natural colours of the season and beautiful early sunsets, you and your guests will be left with a lifetime of memories.
A rustic old hotel, cosy castle or an intimate barn make great choices for an Autumnal Wedding Venue!
