Beautiful Autumn Wedding Venue Ideas
28th September 2023

Autumn is approaching, and as lovely as September has been this year, the days are getting shorter and a chill has returned to the air. The colours are changing, and it’s a wonderful season for a wedding.
Although summer tends to be the top choice for couples, it has some drawbacks - peak prices, guests’ holidays and sweating groomsmen to name a few. By pushing your big day back a couple of months, you can take advantage of more budget-friendly packages and better availability for both your guests and your favourite suppliers.
Here’s a few of our favourite venue ideas for an autumn wedding, and how you can make the most of this stunning season.
Woodland Venues
Beautiful colours and atmospheric lighting are unique to autumn. With golden hour coming that little bit earlier, you can get some stunning photography, and where better to do this than amongst the spectacular UK countryside.
Fforest Weddings is situated in Cilgerren, and showcases the best of the Welsh landscape, with sprawling hills and valleys for that perfect sunset shot and a cosy marquee with woodburning stove to retire to for the evening celebrations.

Staying in Wales, Hollyhollows is another of our favourite outdoor venues. It’s a great place to feel connected with nature, whilst also enjoying the comfort of cosy glamping pods, fire pits and even a hot tub. There’s also a deck that overlooks their beautiful hayfields - the perfect place for a wedding photoshoot and another reason to consider an autumn wedding.

Rustic Venues
Haybales, dried flowers, evergreen foliage - all great additions to an autumn wedding (and sometimes a cheaper option than fresh flowers, too). And where better to display your decorations than a beautiful rustic venue, brimming with character and perfect for a cosy wedding.
Nancarrow Farm is a great example of an elegant yet homely venue. In the autumn, their courtyard is filled with the colours and scents of flowers and herbs, and if the weather is nice, your guests can relax on picnic blankets next to the millpond. After celebrations in their rustic barn covered with rambling roses, you can retire to the orchard, where there are enough Tipis to sleep 26 guests, and of course a bridal suite too.

Another of our favourite rustic, country venues is Gilbert White & the Oates Collections. Located in the idyllic Hampshire landscape and featuring 30 acres of parkland, meadows and gardens, their 16th Century barn is the epitome of autumnal.

Restaurant Venues
One of the best things about an autumn wedding? The food. The time for picky summer buffets is passed; it’s the season for soups, roast dinners and apple crumble. For this reason, we think restaurant venues make some of the best autumn wedding locations - you can be sure you’ll get a hearty feast for your wedding breakfast.
Founded by a chef and an ex-North Sea oil rigger, Union Club in Soho is a gem of a restaurant. They make their own fresh bread and pasta daily, and have cultivated a cosy, stylish venue that feels like home.

The Hawksmoor Guildhall is another renowned restaurant famous for its dictionary-thick steak and sustainable seafood. Classic decor with beautiful wood panelling provides an elegant, traditional setting, ideal for those chillier months of the year. And don’t worry, it’s not all meat and fish - they cater to all diets, and their wine list is second to none.
