Whittington, Shropshire

If you are looking for an intimate and cosy wedding venue within an enchanting and romantic setting look no further than Whittington Castle, part of which dates from the 12th Century and has links to the Holy Grail.
Located in a small village in rural Shropshire, the Castle has a magical quality - ivy clad walls, a medieval moat with majestic swans and a twin-towered gatehouse create a unique and special atmosphere. It has an interesting history potentially spanning approximately 3000 years.
There are lots of opportunities for inspirational photographs in the grounds with so many unusual and interesting backdrops all in this one amazing location.
Our weddings take place in the elegant Lady Eleanor room in the Castle’s south tower. Lady Eleanor lived in the 14th Century and was responsible for turning the Castle into a comfortable home.
If you would like an outdoor wedding during the summer months, this too can be discussed. As a small venue, catering for up to 35 guests, you are guaranteed a warm and friendly personal service from the moment you enquire.
Aside from a traditional wedding there are other ceremonies to choose from. A handfasting or marriage blessing is a deeply meaningful and joyful way to celebrate love and union between two people. Each ceremony is a delightful blend of poetry and prose. You may wish to hold a themed ceremony – something special to you, or to renew your vows.
Our experienced wedding manager will guide you through the process and be on hand every step of the way.
There is ample parking and a number of excellent hotels nearby which can accommodate your guests overnight, as well as a mainline railway station.
