Henstridge, Somerset

The Old Milking Parlour is constructed of the local stone (Forest Marble) and so retains its old world rustic charm. It is, as the name implies, an old farm milking parlour. Parts of the building date from circa 1730 and cow chains still hang from the walls. Inside, it's more like being properly indoors than being in a barn. It's carpeted and cosy with a friendly, mellow atmosphere. Fairy lights draped from the beamed ceiling give a magical, intimate feel.
The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House is fully licensed by Somerset County Council to hold civil wedding ceremonies on the premises. Ceremonies can take place in The Old Milking Parlour building itself, outside on the adjacent lawn or amongst the birdsong in a magical sun-dappled glade in The Old Milking Parlour's private woods. There is no extra charge from us for having your civil wedding ceremony at The Old Milking Parlour.
There is easy disabled access to the building and excellent indoor ladies, gents and disabled toilets. Included in the price, at no extra charge to you, is the top professional 'RS Sound and Entertainment's disco' for your evening entertainment. RS will liaise with you regarding your first dance and any special tracks or particular music you'd like at your wedding. The Old Milking Parlour is an exclusive use venue and each of our weddings is unique - a bespoke collaboration between you, us and our approved suppliers.
Throughout your wedding planning we will be always available to discuss any problems or questions you may have. Also, you will always be welcome to visit the venue by arrangement to help in your planning - and we will always be there to give advice and tips. Or maybe you'd like just to sit in the Old Milking Parlour and soak up the atmosphere - get a feel of how you want your wedding to look, how you will welcome your guests, how you will arrange the seating and things like that.
On the big day itself, we will be unobtrusively working in the background to make sure that everything runs smoothly and providing on-the-day coordination. Our role varies depending upon what needs doing - we're always busy behind the scenes. For example: welcoming suppliers and their staff - ensuring they have everything they need, putting out garden games, car park marshalling, finding tables and chairs for aunties who arrive unexpectedly, ensuring all your table fairy lights and tea lights are lit ready for your arrival, litter picking, searching for lost property and so on and so on...
If you would like a personal guided tour of our venue, please let us know if you'd prefer weekdays or weekends and we'll sort out a mutually convenient date and time. We promise we won't be hounding you afterwards with pushy 'book now' emails. A core value that underpins everything we do is modelled on the way we like to be treated when we ourselves are customers. We really don't like aggressive sales techniques - so we won't be using them on you.
The Old Milking Parlour site is totally secluded and an exclusive use venue. Old Milking Parlour weddings are totally private. If our couples prefer not to have any aspect of their wedding day shared online or otherwise, we will always respect this preference.
We will work with you as your advocates to plan your perfect day and take all your wishes into account. Respecting our couples' requested confidentiality is vitally important to us.
