York, North Yorkshire

The Normans - Yorkshire’s most unique country wedding venue. Taking its name from the beautiful 18th-century working farm on which it is set, The Normans is comprised of five distinct areas: The Courtyard, The Ceremony Barn, The Cow Stalls, The Tack Room Bar and The Grain Shed. Each area unique in its own right but, at the same time, interlinked, ensuring that your event flows seamlessly.
The farm has been in the Robinson family for three generations. And, for three generations, it has been the backdrop to a number of fantastic family weddings. For this reason, they decided to open their doors to loved-up brides and grooms-to-be of Yorkshire ... and beyond! But The Normans isn't just 'another barn venue'. Husband and wife team Oliver and Laura have revamped and re-imagined the original farm buildings and fold yard, to create a stylish and stunning space - combining rustic charm with slick contemporary features - that is purpose-built for weddings.
The Normans is fully licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies in its stunning 18th Century threshing barn. The barn features exposed-brick walls and a high-vaulted ceiling supported by handsome wooden trusses. Not only this, but the floor-to-ceiling curtain of cascading fairy lights never fails to make jaws drop!
After the ceremony, newlyweds and their guests head out of the Ceremony Barn's huge double doors, directly into The Courtyard. This flexible area becomes a setting for sipping bubbly amidst manicured lawns, trimmed buxus hedges, modern integrated seating, a slick central water feature and an abundance of twinkling fairy lights. The Courtyard is picture-perfect whatever the weather thanks to the expansive 9m x 5m umbrella that covers the entire patio area.
The Cow Stalls are set on the west side of The Courtyard and although the cows are long gone, the building has been put to a more stylish purpose - a charming 'snug' where guests can take time out from frivolities to sit, chat and relax.
And to carry on the celebrations, the Grain Shed (originally used to store wheat and barley during harvest) has been transformed into the ultimate party space for you and your guests to dine, drink and dance thereafter! Inside, the walls are comprised of white-washed wooden cladding, while overhead the billowing fabric ceiling is imbued with wow-factor fairy lights.
The Normans make a point of not hosting more than one weekday and one weekend wedding per week - they aim to provide an exclusive setting for couples to make their own. And while they're on hand to share their creative ideas or advice, they’re just as happy to leave you to it, to create your own dream day. If you’d like to visit The Normans and discuss your wedding, they’d love to meet you so don't hesitate to send an enquiry.
