Nestled in a large estate close to both Carlisle and Penrith in Cumbria this Grade II listed country house enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The sweeping tree-lined drive is immediately impressive and calming and with your first view of Low House, you will be transported to a bygone age. The house is situated overlooking the Eden Valley offering superb views and unbeatable photo opportunities.

We provide a perfect wedding venue for intimate civil weddings or larger wedding receptions which can be accommodated in a marquee erected on our expansive parkland. You can choose to hold your civil wedding ceremony in one of the four period-style rooms in our authentic country house or in the garden under one of our two licensed gazebos with views over the Eden Valley.

Exclusive use of Low House is always guaranteed and we can provide you with an extensive list of local suppliers from Penrith and/or Carlisle to contact if you choose. Alternatively, you are free to source your own suppliers if you wish. We are always happy to offer site visits to these suppliers in order to discuss their plans in more detail if required. We offer as much – or as little – help as you want throughout the planning of your day.

Here at Low House we are fortunate enough to have our very own in-house caterer. A specialist events and wedding caterer, Sara will develop menus to suit your personal tastes and budget, ensuring that whatever you choose will be beautifully presented and most importantly, will taste delicious. Whatever your requirements, from an exclusive dinner party, a sit-down wedding breakfast or a simple, finger-food buffet, Sara welcomes the opportunity to work with you to create a unique menu that won’t fail to delight you and your guests.

Church weddings can be arranged at a nearby church. Low House is the perfect place to host your wedding reception after a church wedding in nearby Armathwaite, Carlisle, Penrith – or anywhere else close by in Cumbria.

If you wish to stay on site or for your guests to be accommodated here, we now work with a local company, Belle Hotel, who provide luxury bell tents and can create a ‘pop-up hotel’ here at Low House. There is also ample parking for over 100 cars.
