Unique Riverside Wedding Venue Tucked Away in East London

Lea Rowing Club offers a unique riverside venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions, located in the heart of Hackney, East London. With a proud history dating back to the 19th Century, our Boathouse sits on a tranquil stretch of the River Lea flowing between Clapton and Walthamstow Marshes. If you are looking for an interesting and unique venue in Hackney to celebrate your wedding, Lea Rowing Club is the perfect place.

Lea Rowing Club holds a wedding license which can be used in conjunction with your reception or for the ceremony alone. We have three great spaces to help you create your perfect wedding celebration and we can cater for 30–230 guests:

MAIN HALL
The large hall is spacious, light and airy with generous ceiling heights. Its clean, modern décor offers a minimal backdrop that can be decorated as you wish. This fully air-conditioned space means your guests will remain comfortable even when the dance floor heats up. The hall seats 140 people dining or 250 standing.




THE BAR
The L-shaped bar area, with a view and balcony overlooking the River Lea, has lots of character. Recently renovated, it is adorned with rowing regalia, pictures and medals won down the years. The bar, which seats a further 70 guests or 100 more informally, can be hired on its own or with the main hall or study area.

THE STUDY
A quiet, modern and intimate space with its own balcony and view overlooking the River Lea which can cater for up to 35 guests.

The Boathouse has a fully equipped kitchen and well-stocked bar licenced until 12.30am. Catering for your wedding reception can be arranged with one of our in-house caterers or our kitchen can also be hired for use by external caterers. The bar is stocked with a good selection of wines, as well as draught and bottled beers. We are also able to supply bar staff and both open or paying bar options are available.

Our club is less than 30 minutes from the City and is easily accessible from East or North London. The closest stations are Clapton, Stamford Hill and Seven Sisters. Free parking is available in car parks and on roads close by.
