Great Lodge is a beautiful rural estate in North West Essex, which has been farmed for over 100 years. In 1989 the Bardfield Vineyard was planted and it now produces a range of award winning wines. In 2014 the magnificent Grade 1 Listed Anne of Cleves Barn was opened as a wedding and event venue and more recently the Great Lodge Barns have been converted to provide stylish accommodation for up to 16.

We want your day to be special and unique and whether your taste is traditional or quirky, this family run business aims to support you in making your wedding exactly as you want it from start to finish.

Ceremonies can take place outside in a pavillion in our beautiful walled garden or in our magnificent Grade 1 Listed 16th Century brick barn. The whole of the garden and grounds are available for the exclusive use of the wedding party and reception drinks are often held in our white garden. The barn seats 150 max for the wedding breakfast and can go up to 200 for the evening

We only have 25 weddings a year, between April and July and are not a production line. We have one wedding at the weekend and couples have all of the day before to get ready. We are very flexible to allow you to create the day of your dreams and therefore we do not have preferred suppliers ( except for fireworks) but we can provide a list of recommended suppliers you may use if you wish. We can supply award winning wine from our vineyard but you are free to bring your own alcohol with no corkage charged at all!! If you would like a paying bar in the evening, we will happily supply it.

There is a wealth of photograpic backdrops around our gardens, woodlands and vineyard and if you wish, we can even include feeding our alpacas for an unusual photographic opportunity.

A courtyard of converted barns provide a dressing room, bridal suite and our guest accommodation, plus we allow camping at no extra charge.
