Set in the Chilterns’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – yet under an hour from Central London - the Gaddesden Estate has been home to the Halsey family for 500 years. Today the estate offers a range of wedding and events spaces surrounding the main house - The Golden Parsonage.
Working in partnership with specialist event co-ordinators Big Green Space, this venue is now able to offer a series of very special formal, semi-formal and wilderness locations in and around The Golden Parsonage, the 18th Century manor house at the heart of the estate. They offer exclusive, private hire only, with just a small number of events held each year.
The grounds around the Golden Parsonage range from formal gardens to fully wild spaces. You have complete flexibility in choosing which of these areas would best suit you for your wedding day, with the option to combine the use of multiple spaces on the day. Choose from the "Walled Garden Meadow", which runs alongside the walls of the kitchen garden, "Fishponds" a medieval landscaped area or "Badger’s Garden" part of the formal grounds of The Golden Parsonage itself.
The Walled Garden Meadow offers the greatest flexibility when it comes to the use of a space and is an ideal place for a marquee or tipi. The meadow is a riot of wildflowers in spring and early summer and the adjacent tree-lined avenue and folly is a natural place for a blessing ceremony. With a woodland backdrop and views across the countryside, this is the perfect location to really make your day your own.
Thought to have its origins as a Medieval pond, today Fishponds is a truly magical sunken garden, set among the woodland and hidden from the house. Dine below a canopy of leaves under the stars, or hold a blessing with friends and family in the area’s ‘atrium’, hidden from all but the flora and fauna. A secluded wilderness surrounded by mature oaks, Fishponds is ideal for those who want a totally unique experience dining amongst the trees.
Badger’s Garden comprises a series of more formal tree plantings with views over the countryside beyond. This unique location, overlooked by the main façade of the house, is ideal for intimate events and drinks receptions.
Gaddesden Estate are committed to protecting the rural environment and they plan to plant a tree for every wedding held here in 2021 as part of their 500th anniversary plantation scheme.
Within easy reach of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, this new wedding venue has availability in 2021 and 2022 so get in touch and start planning your big day!
