Danby Castle is North Yorkshire's most unique and historic wedding venue. Set on a moorland spur in the beautiful Esk Valley in the North York Moors, this 13th Century castle once belonged to Katherine Parr before she married Henry VIII. The castle was transformed into a wedding venue in 2007 and is also a family home.

This beautiful, medieval site has 3 licensed areas for you to choose from for your legal marriage ceremony:
- The Court Room on the 1st floor which was originally the 'Solar' or 'Great Chamber'. This room is where Katherine Parr would have slept when visiting and is also the meeting place of the Court Leet, in existence since 1656. No weddings can take place on the 3rd Thursday of October each year as that is 'Court Leet Day'! Being such a historical part of the castle, this is where most wedding ceremonies take place.

- The Horse Engine House is a 3 sided building on the ground floor overlooking the original castle courtyard. The roof space features the cogs and turning equipment associated with the Threshing Barn (daytime snug) next door. This room is more suited to those couples who are looking for a rustic setting for their ceremony.

- The 16th Century Barn at Danby Castle is on the ground floor and has many original features. The Barn offers great access for wheelchair users and also houses the dance floor and the bar.

There is also the option of an 'outside inside' wedding with the North Yorkshire Registrars, which allows you to hold your ceremony on the front lawn overlooking the beautiful Esk Valley or within the actual castle ruins. After the ceremony, the bridal party then make their way over to a licensed area in which to sign the register. You and your guests can then enjoy the picturesque views across the Esk Valley and explore the ancient Danby Castle ruins during your drinks reception.
