Butley Priory is an enchanting wedding venue like no other. Located only two hours from London and hidden within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the wilds of a Suffolk forest, this once 12th Century monastery provides a truly unique setting for your wedding day. Butley provides an unforgettable setting for all styles and celebrations. Hosting intimate in-house weddings for up to 80 family and friends or a festival style wedding with unlimited numbers, on the front lawn. Even more, the grounds can allow for marquees, tipis and even glamping villages which are all set in perfect privacy.

Wedding celebrations held here are bespoke to suit the couple behind them and everything is tailored to meet individual tastes. Butley Priory has been standing in its dream like surroundings for over 700 years, offering inspiration and wonderment to all who enter its gates. The caterers offer a specialised menu, designed and planned by the couple and our chefs together. Butley pride’s itself on using seasonal and locally sourced produce, with an eye for detail and emphasis on flavour. The in-house wine specialist is also on hand to help choose, taste and match the perfect wines for the day. The Pilgrim’s Room is our secret bar, opened for guests after the wedding breakfast. Following tradition, The Pilgrims Room is where the Augustinian monks would have dispensed alms and hospitality to pilgrims on their travels and this has now been turned into a specialist gin bar offering hospitality to guests.

At the very heart of the priory is the Great Hall - a licensed ceremony room where the ceilings are an architectural dream and the acoustics present every vow perfectly. By night this magical room transforms into an incredible party space.

When the dancing is done Butley Priory offers accommodation for up to 15 guests in uniquely themed rooms, perfect for the whole family, with a wild meadow for glamping opposite our beautiful lakes, all in perfect privacy.

Only two hours drive from London, with accommodation for up to 15 people, the house is also available to let for family reunions, corporate events, location hire or retreats.
